Classes typically consist of from 2 to 12 students.
Student progress during the entire programme is monitored by a mentor.
Schedule
The course runs in terms of six to eight weeks with one or two week breaks in between to give students the opportunity to travel within Yemen and expand their exposure to the people, language and culture. Initially classes are held five days a week (Saturday to Wednesday) with four hours of formal classes each morning or afternoon, making a term of 100-140 hours. Class hours drop & self study increases as the course progresses.
Besides formal learning, students are strongly encouraged to have about 2 hours a day of 'community learning' (personal initiative), spending time with local people, and 2 hours a day of private study, practicing and preparing for classes. This is a rigorous full-time course.
Courses commence in September and at the beginning of each year. National and local religious holidays are observed as well as Easter and Christmas.
Age of students
We cannot accept full time students younger than 21 years unless they come under the supervision of their parents or an approved local supervisor.
