About YAP

Classes typically consist of from 4 to 12 students.
Student progress is monitored during the entire programme and progress reports are issued regularly.

Schedule
The course runs in terms of six weeks with one or two week breaks in between to give students the opportunity to travel within Yemen and expand their exposure to the people, language and culture. Initially classes are held five days a week (Saturday to Wednesday) with four hours of formal classes each morning or afternoon, making a term of 120 hours. Class hours decrease & self study and community learning (spending time with and learning from local people) increase as the course progresses.

Besides formal learning, students are strongly encouraged to spend at least 2 hours a day of community learning on their own initiative and 2 hours a day of private study doing homework and preparing for classes. This is a rigorous full-time course.

Courses commence in March and September each year. National and local religious holidays are observed as well as Easter and Christmas. Besides the breaks in between terms, there is a four week break usually in August to allow students more time for travel in the country, self study and community learning.

Age of students
We cannot accept full time students younger than 21 years unless they come under the supervision of their parents or an approved local supervisor.
