Modules D + E

  • Systematic study of written and spoken Modern Standard Arabic. This course continues until the last term and uses two course books from Georgetown University Press.
  • Study of dialect continues with reading, writing + listening, as well as topical discussions and "show and tell" classes.

Modules F + G

  • Study of spoken colloquial Arabic continues along with translation, MSA studies, and the language of media & formal vowelling is introduced.

Module H

  • MSA studies continue and dialect & culture are studied through local folk stories. After revision classes, final exams are held. A successful student will graduate with a low-intermediate capability in MSA and local dialect.

Final Exam

Once a student has completed the YAP programme a final exam will test all four-language skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking).  Both the Ministries of Education and Foreign Affairs in Yemen endorse the diploma that will be granted to those who pass the final exam.

There is a summer break for the whole month of August, and we offer a maximum of 7 terms per year.

YAP Extension

For students who want to further improve their language and who are able to be independent and self-directed in their study we offer a six month extension course.

Modules I, J + K continue studies of MSA and media. Additionally students complete and present research projects about local culture + customs and are guided through an advanced analysis of colloquial grammar.
